Think before you decide where to place your DJ:
When placing a DJ in a venue for any function, please keep the following in mind:
- Is there a power supply nearby?
- DJ’s generally need a table measuring 0.8 x 1.8 meters for their equipment, as well as a free area behind the table of around 1.5 meters.
- Cables – Cables - Cables. Speakers and all other equipment need wires. Think of where the DJ will have to run the wires. Avoid running wires across a dance floor or walkway. Alleycat Entertainment has a strict policy against running wires anywhere we might think it will be hazardous to any of the guests attending any function. Taping down wires might help to a certain extent, but in general you fall just as hard.
- Visibility – DJ’s must be able to see the crowd, as well as the person/persons doing speeches etc.
- Don’t set a DJ’s table with plates, cutlery or mugs of water, it will only be moved.
- Communication – you, the client, must be able to communicate with the DJ should you feel the need to. Don’t place a DJ where either you or he should climb ladders, swing on ropes or throw each other notes in order to communicate.
